조직재생의학-줄기세포 권위자 한국 집결 난치성 질환과 장기이식 환자 위한 최신 동향 논의

제2차 세계조직공학·재생의학회 학술대회 서울개최 오는 8월 31일 개막…줄기세포 연구 활성화 기대  21세기 최첨단 의학이라 할 수 있는 재생의학의 중요 부문인 줄기세포와 조직공학 관련 세계 권위자들이 한국으로 집결한다.  제2차 세계조직공학·재생의학회 학술대회 및 서울 줄기세포 심포지엄(TERMIS 2nd World Congress 및 2009 Seoul Stem Cell Symposium)이 오는 8월 31일부터 9월 3일까지 서울 잠실 롯데호텔월드에서 열릴 예정이다.  이번에 개최되는 학회 및 심포지엄은 한국조직공학재생의학회와 세포응용연구사업단(단장 김동욱 연세의대)이 공동주최하며 'Science and Technology for Patients(환자를 위한 과학과 기술)'라는 주제 아래 재생의학과 줄기세포 분야의 70명이 넘는 세계 석학들의 초청강연과 1200편에 달하는 연재가 준비돼 있으며 국내외 연구자, 기업 대표 등 약 1500여명이 참석할 예정이다.    재생의학이란 생명과학과 공학의 기본 개념과 기술을 통합 응용해 손상된 조직이나 장기의 기능을 복원하는 새로운 의학분야로, 기존의 의학기술로는 치료가 어려운 난치성 질환이나 장기이식 외에는 방법이 없는 심각한 장기손상 환자들에 대한 치료를 목적으로 한다.    이번 국제학술대회의 조직위원장인 김정만 교수(가톨릭의대)는 "난치병 환자 치료를 위한 첨단 의료기술의 기반 및 국내 성장동력이 될 재생의학과 줄기세포를 망라하는 이번 행사의 개최로 몇 년 동안 침체 상태에 있는 국내 조직재생의학과 줄기세포 연구 활성화에 불씨가 집혀질 것으로 기대한다"고 했다.    이번 학술대회에서는 세계최초로 cell sheet Engineering 기술을 이용해 각막 조직과 심장조직을 만들어 이식에 성공한 일본 오카노 교수(도쿄여자의대)가 이에 대한 임상사례를 기조강연을 통해 발표하고, 줄기세포 분야 세계 석학 로날드 맥케이(미국 국립신경질환·뇌졸중연구소), 니시카와(일본 RIKEN), 미국재생의학계의 선두주자인 아탈라 교수(미국 웨이크포레스트대), 유럽과 미국의 생체재료 분야를 이끌고 있는 허벨 교수(스위스) 등도 줄기세포와 재생의학에 대한 전문적인 견해와 연구 결과 등을 발표 할 예정이다.    이번 학술프로그램은 33개의 심포지엄 세션과 17개의 일반 세션으로 구성돼 있으며 △인간태반 △줄기세포 바이오프로세싱 △조직과 장기를 제조하는 자연적 방법-천연 세포외기질의 응용 △조직공학 지지체의 생체재료의 규격 △조직공학 골 △재생의학치료의 전이 등을 주제로 한다.    한편 올해로 7회를 맞는 국제 줄기세포 서울 심포지엄은 예년과 달리 조직공학 재상의학 분야에서 가장 규모가 큰 국제학술 대회인 TERMIS와 공동으로 학술대회를 개최해 줄기세포의 기초연구에서부터 융합 학술분야인 조직공학 재생의학에 이르기까지 세부 학술 분야의 특성을 보완하고 공동 목표를 위한 상승작용을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.    김동욱 단장은 "현재 세계 의료계는 암이나 당뇨 같은 질환보다는 줄기세포에 우위를 선점하기 위해 엄청난 투자가 이뤄지고 있다"며 "우리나라의 경우 황우석 교수 사태로 인한 트라우마로 때문에 국가 지원에 냉소적인 분위기가 깔려 있다. 이번 세계 대회를 계기로 이러한 분위기가 변화되길 기대한다"고 피력했다. 박소영 기자 (sogo2d@bosa.co.kr) 출처 ---- 시간을 내서 이 학회에 참석해 봐야 겠습니다. Call for Symposia 2nd TERMIS World Congress in conjunction with 2009 Seoul Stem Cell Symposium Seoul, Republic of Korea August 31 ~ September 3, 2009 We invite you to submit symposium proposals for 2nd TERMIS World Congress in conjunction with 2009 Seoul Stem Cell Symposium held in Seoul, Republic of Korea during August 31 ~ September 3, 2009. Symposia are the scientific centerpiece of this congress. Proposals on any topics relevant to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine will be welcome. This congress will have more than 30 symposia in the scientific program (running in length from 1 ½ hours to 2 hours), each organized around a specific theme or topic. Individual talks in symposium range from 15 to 30 minutes in length (30 minutes for keynote or invited speakers). Proposal applications must be received before December 31 (Wednesday), 2008 through termis2009wc@cescon.co.kr. Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the Scientific Program Committee. If a proposal is accepted, the organizer(s) will be required to submit a final summary description of the symposium. This summary will appear in the preliminary program and should be written so as to stimulate interest and promote attendance. The symposium organizers will have authorities for arranging chairmen and speakers (including keynote or invited speakers, oral or poster speakers through the reviewing process after abstract deadline).
